TELL US ABOUT YOUR IG NAME AND HOW YOU STARTED WITH YOUR BUSINESS.
“Calamarata” is a pleasant-sounding word I’ve always liked, so when I started looking for an Instagram nickname 7 years ago, that’s the one I chose.
My business started a few months ago and focuses on organizing and customizing small breakfasts-related events, from the aesthetic vision to the menu, creating an experience for a community of people who love sharing good, nutritious food.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CITY FOR FASHION, FOOD AND CULTURE?
I’d say Paris is in first position.
TELL US YOUR TOP 3 BREAKFASTS IN MILAN.
Mine (I couldn’t have started any other way)! Then Eutopia and Serra di Quartiere.
WHAT DOES WELLNESS MEAN TO YOU, AND WHAT’S YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH IT?
To me, it means reaching the goal of knowing your body very well but at the same time learning to take it easier when things don’t go as your body and mind planned. An example, I like planning and being prepared for every surprise (whether good or bad), but when I’m not, I’m working on taking a step back, breathing deeply and thinking “Okay, it’s fine. I’m still alive, so it could have been worse!”.
PLAY TREND-HUNTER FOR US: GIVE US YOUR LATEST RECOMMENDATION. GOT A NEW FAVE BRAND, PRODUCT, BOOK OR RECIPE?
One of my latest favorite fashion brand is Emily Levine, based in Milan. Instead of suggesting a recipe, I’d recommend a chef, Eliza Parchanska, who works at Hotel Corazon in Mallorca and prepares incredibily nourishing and visually appealing dishes. A great book to have at home is “Dream Businesses”, by Courier, which focuses on a new generation of entrepreneurs working in art and design, food and drink, fashion and travel. I bought it in Paris and I’m always happy to share it with friends. I’ve answered almost everything, but making choices was difficult.
WHAT GARMENT IS EVER-PRESENT IN YOUR CLOSET, NO MATTER HOW MANY SEASONS PASS BY?
An oversized white shirt from my dad’s wardrobe – no matter what, it always works!
EACH ONE OF US IS CONSTANTLY LIVING OUR OWN GENTLE REVOLUTION. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURS?
I guess mine is genuinely being kind to myself and understanding the people around me as much as I can. You never know what’s on someone’s mind and judging usually doesn’t help. So be ready to listen and change your opinion – it may be true, but not absolute.
WHAT DO YOU VALUE MOST ABOUT YOUR DIET?
I’ve reached a point where quality matters more than quantity in maintaining a good long-term relationship with food. I believe that overeating can happen sometimes, but when you eat high-quality food, you feel satisfied and well-nourished much sooner than when you choose junk food.
WHAT DOES HEALTHY AND INTENTIONAL EATING MEAN TO YOU?
It means satisfying all my body’s and mind’s needs, and to do that, you must know your own body very well – which is never as simple as expected, but for me, it’s the key. Getting used to eating whole foods, preferably organic and mainly seasonal helps a lot. However, sometimes our mind has different needs than our body and those are just as important as what our stomach craves.
ARE YOU MORE OF A SWEET TOOTH OR SAVOURY LOVER?
Absolutely sweet tooth: I don’t even trust people who say they prefer savoury food when you can have ice cream.
